The mission of the Pike County School System is to develop individuals who will possess the knowledge, skills, and values essential to becoming productive citizens. The school district's Guiding Principals are 1) maintain high expectations and performance standards for all students and adults, 2) ensure academic accountability, fiscal responsibility, and clear communication, 3) initiate and sustain effective collaboration with families, community agencies, and business-industry partners, 4) engage in research to provide innovative instruction, proficient technology use, and expanded student opportunities, and 5) deliver friendly and courteous service in safe, clean, well-maintained schools. 

The school system as well as each school maintains Advanced ED Accreditation. Student performance on standardized assessments is competitive with surrounding systems in Southeast Alabama. We encourage you to utilize data provided at the Alabama State Department of Education web-site to review this information. 

The school district offers a full complement of outstanding programs at all levels. These include participation in the Alabama Reading Initiative and Alabama Math, Science, and Technology Initiative. The district also prides itself in a growing STEM focus which includes 5/6 grade and 7/8 grade STEM Cohort groups, a ninth grade STEM transition course, and STEM Academy. High school programs feature several "Academy/Early College Options." These include: 

These programs allow students to graduate from high school and a partner post-secondary institution with an Associate Degree. There is no cost to students. Additionally, the Global Studies Academy allows students to attend Troy University part-time at no expense and earn 24 semester hours of college credit prior to graduation. Post-secondary partners include Troy University, Enterprise State Community College, and Wallace College - Hanceville. The district has many business and industry partners and is an active member and financial supporter of the Pike County Economic Development Corporation.

Instruction is provided in technology rich environments. The district also participates in ACCESS and provides high school coursework using web-based and interactive video conferencing technology. The school system is well prepared to accommodate the needs of all students including those with disabilities.
